    Kitchens
Customizing the layout:

Kitchen Cabinets should be designed to take full advantage of options that help you save time and energy. For example, base cabinets with large, deep drawers instead of doors or inside doors save you from having to get on the floor to retrieve items in the back of the cabinet. If the space is available, and you are installing custom or semi-custom cabinets, specify a 15-in. deep upper cabinet in at least one spot, instead of a standard 12 in., to accommodate large serving dishes.

Consider tall upper cabinets that extend up to the ceiling. Avoid tiny knobs and hard to grasp decorative hardware. Instead, choose C- or U- shaped pulls that will allow you to open cabinets with one finger, even with gooey hands. With cabinets of any size, adjustable shelves make it easy to customize your storage spaces.

As with professional’s kitchens, your kitchen should operate like an efficient production line. The goal is to organize the space so that cooking, cleanup and storage tasks can be done in sequence, with little wasted effort or doubling back. This can be done most effectively by creating distinct work zones for the major tasks.

Like your car or your clothing, your kitchen should fit and serve you well. In addition to accommodating the way you cook, eat and store food, it must harmonize with your home’s design scheme and provide a comfortable gathering place for your family and friends.

How do you begin planning a kitchen that will do all that! Start with your primary motive for remodeling. Most likely it will focus on one of two issues; efficiency or appearance. In other words, your current kitchen may not work well for you, or it may just look outdated.

    Different levels of kitchen remodeling:
Changing the Layout:
With this option, you’ll retain the same basic footprint as the existing kitchen, but change to position of the appliances, fixtures and eating areas to create a more efficient layout. This level of remodeling includes most elements of the cosmetic makeover.

Redirecting Traffic:
In a slightly more complex scenario, you might find it necessary to change the layout more radically in order to redirect traffic moving through the kitchen. Often this means adding or moving a doorway in a partition wall, as well as redesigning the basic kitchen footprint. At this fairly extensive level, many homeowners take the opportunity to add new windows, patio doors and skylights.
Expanding Within:
If your present kitchen just isn’t large enough to accommodate your needs, one option is to extend the room by borrowing space from adjacent rooms. This generally means that interior partition wall will need to be removed. This level of remodeling often includes significant rearrangements of the appliances and cabinets, as well as the installation of new windows, doors or skylight.
Expanding Outward:
If you find that more space is essential and you can’t expand into adjoining rooms, then the remaining option is to built an addition onto your home. This ambitious undertaking requires the aid of virtually the same collection of professionals it takes to build a home from scratch.

Now that you’ve made some decisions about the scale of your kitchen project, you can put your idea on paper. Whether you’re planning a cosmetic makeover or dreaming about an addition, Les Entreprises Dazé Enterprises Inc. can make drawings to let you experiment with layouts and details of how the pieces of the project all fit together.
